Abstract

Back pain is one of the common complaints experienced by pregnant women, particularly during the third trimester due to physiological changes that may interfere with daily activities. One of the non-pharmacological methods to reduce this discomfort is pelvic rocking exercise. This study aimed to determine the effect of pelvic rocking exercise on reducing back pain among third trimester pregnant women at Rantepao Health Center. This research used a pre-experimental design with a one group pre-test and post-test approach. The population consisted of 280 pregnant women, with a sample of 35 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected by measuring the intensity of back pain before and after the pelvic rocking exercise intervention. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that pelvic rocking exercise had a significant effect on reducing back pain among third trimester pregnant women. In conclusion, pelvic rocking exercise is effective in reducing back pain in third trimester pregnant women and can be recommended as a non-pharmacological therapy to improve maternal comfort during pregnancy.
